If you use a mitre saw a lot, then you’ll want to check out the ProSite Protractor.  It’s a simple, easy to use, effective, and rugged protractor that gives you an instant angle measurement that you can quickly transfer to your mitre saw.

ProSite Protractor

The tool is constructed of 1/4″ thick by 12″ long aluminum plate for the arms, and weighs in at just over one pound. The ProSite has two scales: a red one shows the angle for a mitre joint, and a black one shows the angle to fit a single workpiece to an angle. I used the Pro Site extensively while constructing a new workshop and found that it saved me time, diminished the number of waste cuts, and helped keep my stress level down.

After dropping it half a dozen times from the roof, and pinning it under a saw horse with Mr. Tubby standing atop, I can attest to its ruggedness. The adjustable friction pivot works smoothly, allowing you to open and close the arms easily while staying in place at whatever angle you set them at. Holes in the ends of the arms allow you to hang the tool up when you’re done with it. An essential tool for carpenters and other tradespeople, and a “make my life easier” tool for DIYers, who will especially appreciate how much easier it makes using the miter saw.
