Looking to build a birdhouse? Here are the basic dimensions you can use to build custom homes for some commonly beautiful birds.
Use these dimensions to increase you chance of attracting your feathered friends. The box dimensions don’t have to be exact to the fraction of an inch, and you can vary the height placement somewhat, but you should use the correct hole size. While you can paint or stain the exterior of the house, it’s best not to use any finish on the inside.

I would like to know the distance, from the middle of the hole, to the floor.

The dimensions are inside. If any of these houses are made with 3/4″ material, the floor would be too small. There is no way a chickadee or nuthatch will use a box that measures 3-3/4″ by 2-1/2″ inside.
